Under 8 (First year tackle with no pushing in scrums or contesting in lineouts)
Under 9 & Under 10 (No pushing in scrums or contesting and lifting in lineouts.
Our junior grades from Under 6 to Under 10 are played as non-competition games focusing on player enjoyment, teaching rugby skills and playing a team sport.
Under 11.5 (No pushing in scrums or lifting in lineouts)
Under 13 (No lifting in lineouts)
The above grades include the slightly different laws of the game as it is important for the players to be taught the correct techniques of the game with safety being paramount.

Senior Rugby
Kaiapoi currently has two open grade Men's teams and one Women's Team.
The Women's team plays in the Canterbury Metro competition.
The Men's Division 2 team play in the North Canterbury Competition
The Men's Division 1 team play in the Canterbury Country combined competition and North Canterbury competition.

Golden Oldies Rugby
The Kaiapoi Kavaliers Golden Oldies Team is for players aged over 35 years old.
The team is very social and is open to players of all abilities.

The club caters for all grades from Under Sixes to Seniors and also includes the only Women's team in North Canterbury and a Golden Oldies team. Over the years the club has been very successful in all grades collecting a number championship titles. We are well represented at both North Canterbury and Canterbury Country representative levels.
